Libby is experiencing strong kicks and cramping quite a bit. We’ve decided to pack our hospital bags in case the baby comes early. The house is pretty much all set to welcome a new baby except for the dresser/changing table that is supposed to be ready this week.
With the work out of the way, we’re hoping to go to the Duke gardens this afternoon. The tulips are in bloom, and the wisteria on the arbor is beautiful. It’s a little rainy today so it probably won’t be overcrowded like usual on Sunday afternoons.

We want to give a great big “THANK YOU! to all of our friends who have given us baby gifts. We’ve got the nursery all stocked and we’re ready to go. Seriously, if we had the baby now we’d be all set up, except for getting the car seat strapped into the car.
Not to let 35 weeks slow her down, Libby is finishing a wooden shelf from the unfinished furniture store that she plans to put under the window in the nursery to hold toys in brightly colored baskets. She’s staining it a dark cherry to match the crib. I am learning about calming techniques in The Happiest Baby on the Block book and just finished setting up the crib mobile, which is called “Ocean of Wonders” and plays music and projects lights on the ceiling like a little disco ball of sorts.
We haven’t settled on a name, so are trying some of them out. This involves quitting calling the baby “Tricky” as we’ve been calling her for 8 months and plugging in names on our list. We’ve tried out two so far (out of 5 or so), but I’m not sold on anything yet.
